How to keep your skin looking youthful, naturally

Natural tips to keep skin looking youthful

When it comes to youthful skin, we may not be able to turn back the clock but there is plenty we can do to keep skin looking as healthy as possible. Check out our top tips for looking after your skin the natural way…

  • Drink plenty of water: Even becoming slightly dehydrated can take a toll on the skin, causing it to look dull and flaky. If you find it hard to drink enough water, tea counts too. Try green tea which contains antioxidants called flavonoids known to reduce the inflammation that causes wrinkle formation.
  • Get more vitamin C: Skin exposed to vitamin C has been shown to produce up to eight times more collagen, found in the connective tissue of the skin and responsible for skin regeneration and plumping. Include more foods rich in vitamin C in your diet. Eat plenty of broccoli, strawberries, red and green peppers, tomato, kiwis and oranges.
  • Cut down on sugar: The white stuff has been linked to inflammation in the body, which in turn produces enzymes that break down collagen. The result is sagging skin and wrinkles. If you have a sweet tooth, try to stick to unrefined sugars, such as pure maple syrup or the natural sweetener stevia.
  • Moisturise daily: Applying a moisturiser helps keep your skin looking plump and healthy. Eternal’s Aloe Super Hydrating Moisturiser is luxuriously rich and hydrating. It contains a high concentration of pure Aloe leaf juice, traditionally used as a natural remedy to soothe, soften, moisturise and heal even the most sensitive skin.
  • Screen from the sun: Collagen and elastin fibres keep your skin firm but sun exposure can cause them to break down, leading to wrinkles. In full sun, wear a hat to keep sun off your face and use a moisturiser containing sunscreen throughout the year. Try Eternal’s new Aloe Anti-ageing Day Cream SPF20, which helps protect the skin against damaging UV rays. As well as providing long-lasting hydration, it’s rich in soothing Aloe Vera, chamomile, calendula, shea butter and green tea extract, making it perfect for protecting against environmental exposure.
